Production Cells

When implementing factory automation, PEMA welding and production cells are the basic building blocks.

Manual work steps are eliminated or minimized as numerical controlled machines take care of manufacturing operations. PEMA production cells are based on group technology as a manufacturing philosophy. Once similar parts are identified, they can be grouped together and a suitable cell solution can be created for the production of certain part families. Similarities can be based on part design such as shape, mass, base material type etc. or similar manufacturing characteristics such as weld joint type/welding position combinations.

Depending on the design, production cells can be used for mass production as well as for the production of individual pieces.

Even the most simple production cell can be a key element for the customers manufacturing process, so PEMA ensures that thorough and extensive training is carried out before the delivery of and during the commissioning of the equipment. The components of the system are introduced and familiarized so that even customers who are  new to the production automation feel comfortable with it once the production ramp up begins. It is important to understand the tasks and roles of different parts of the system such as the robot arm, welding powers source, cell controller PC, safety system, workpiece positioners, work instructions etc. PEMA service and training will support the customer long after the start-up has finished.

Typical PEMA Production Cell Consists of Following Components and Functions:
